Default W/N Plague Axe Tank

I use this build myself, and it does rather sufficiently. Let me know what you think. It's in wiki code, as I was messing around with the syntax for it to be possibly posted up later. Cheers.

{{untested-build}}

This build is a simple, regular combat build designed to take as good a pounding as possible while you are being healed by monks, and allowing backline casters to fire upon your position like artillery. This build is also very good at punching through to the backline and murdering casters such as mesmers and ritualists. Most of the skills in this build are available very early, and Triple Chop and other trickier ones can be substituted until they are available.

The build is designed to be simple to use and highly playable, through a wide range of areas in the game.

== Attributes and Skills ==
{{attributes | Warrior | Necromancer
| Strength | 12 + 1
| Axe Mastery| 12 + 1
}}
{{skill bar|Triple Chop|Cyclone Axe|Executioner's Strike|Dismember|Axe Rake|Plague Touch|Endure Pain|Optional}}

== Variations ==

The optional slot can be used by a Signet of Resurrection or Signet of Capture. Tiger's stance is also good since you won't be affected by blind too much. If healers aren't available, you can add Healing Signet or any one of a number of Necromancer healing options.

Once you can change your secondary profession, having W/R as an alternative allows the inclusion of Apply Poison instead of Plague Touch, which is very useful in areas you aren't likely to be affected by too many conditions.

== Gear ==

The best Axe you can afford, ideally with a good + to hit points. Victo's Axe is ideal.

Sentinel's armour for maximum protection against physical and elemental attacks. Until you can afford Sentinel's armour, collector's armour from the Hijuu Lagoon is quite suitable.

No superior runes as they reduce your hit points. Minor runes of Axe Mastery and Strength (on helmet). Best Vigor rune you can afford. This build is designed to be fairly cheap, however, so even the Minor one is good enough. Also, best Damage Reduction rune available is welcomed.

== Usage ==
Regular battles. This build is quite good at combating rangers due to being able to give blind and other conditions right back to them. The high hit points also means heavy degen takes a long time to kill them. Damage is not as high as a dedicated axe master, but is very good all the same.

When entering a battle with a large number of enemies, try and engage several enemies at once. This will allow you backline to cast unmolested. If engaging multiple foes, spam Triple Chop and Cyclone Axe. When energy is recharging, or if facing a single foe, fire off Executioner's Strike, dismember and axe rake in that order.

When hit with a condition, use Plague Touch to offload it immediately, especially Blind or Burning. Generally, save Endure Pain for when you are heavily wounded or surrounded by multiple enemies.

== Counters ==

The build has no self healing of its own, so eliminating the healers in the party will kill the player through attrition.

I'd say if you're going to take that many attack skills, then push your axe mastery a bit higher. Also, I'd replace endure pain with something a bit more useful. It looks good but all it does is delay your death. It saves you on some occasions though.

Thank you for your constructive critisism.

In order to raise axe mastery, superior runes would have to be used. This would lower the maximum hit points available and would actually be against the intention of the build.

Also, by saying that endure pain just helps you live longer before your death, then that's exactly what it is meant to do. It is meant to keep you tanking for as long as possible, and allow more time for healers to heal you.

As for the axe, I'm open to suggestions. +HP axe would have to be a must.

if you're using triple chop + cyclone, wing's axe (or anything with zealous) is ideal.

Your Tanking.....you need armor. Why don't I see Dolyak Signet? Also a +5 Defense Grip would be better, ask any monk if they prefer more HP or more Armor to minimize dmg. One Superior Rune isn't going to have any negative impact on you being able to "Tank" with this build. Endure pain is a fine skill to bring as long as you use it at the right time and not when you first aggro the mobs. Your playing a W/N GB would be a great skill so you can double the time you have to lock aggro before you need a *real* healing support.

From first glances this isn't a tanking build at all so I don't know why you called it that. This is more of a secondary warrior build as far as PvE goes and is pretty standard and nothing new at that. Take this to FoW and go tank all the Shadow Beasts or Skeleton Warriors and you won't have enough time to lock aggro before the monk has to come in and save your ass.
